I rented this lens along with the 17-40l today. I was hoping for the 100mm macro but they didnt have one, so i tried this. Im very happy with the results. Heres one completely untouched other than resize. If i could figure out how to post a 100% crop i would

Here's a portrait of my dog taken this lunchtime, when we were out playing in the snow.

Beautiful dog and great shot!

One from the weekend. This flower is about the size of a quarter.

Is this lens good for food photography (inside restaurant)? since some restaurants are low-light conditions, how well/fast does this lens perform in low light?

thanks in advance

You already know the spec, so this lens somehow struggle from Low-light condition, but 60mm is a good short MACRO to hand held.

This thread is exactly why I joined this forum. I plan on upgrading from the 300D to the 50D in the next few weeks. From what I have read so far, without really good lenses, you cannot really exploit the capabilities of the 15MP because they are so tightly packed.

So I was debating on whether to get a EF 50mm f1.4 USM or the EF-S 60mm f/2.8.
From what I can see here, the 60mm performs very well as a short tele, but the macro capabilities are truly amazing.. I'm going with the 60mm.

Shot this flowering Dogwood today during lunch using the Rebel XTi and EF-S 60 f/2.8 Macro USM with available light. Shot at 1/350 and f/6.7

I love how danged SHARP this lens is, as well as its verstility, focal length, ease of use...

Here's a shot of my dog in our back yard, taken with this lens. It makes a great "walkabout" on a crop camera.

I'm drooling... and I can't sleep: mine arrives tomorrow. I owned my first dslr (XSi) for exactly a week before pushing the "buy" button on the 60 macro.

I'll have to head on over to the macro forum to get my flash modded up for da bugs. :)
