yea its not the Sigma 50
the sigma does not have any lettering on the front

Mine was perfect right out of the box, but there are enough reports of problem lenses that I'd definitely buy it new. Plus Sigma has a 4 year warranty on it, so it'll be good for you for a long while. I don't know about newer versions being better. Mine is a 3007XXX serial. And it's a BIG improvement over the Canon 50.

I bought mine this year and it starts with 1022....

Very nice!

The smooth bokeh has a very relaxing feel. Makes one want to look at the photos longer(The happy mood of the subjects makes this more compelling). Nice PP as well. Suits the first picture very well!

Ever since I've bought this lens, I think my other lenses have gotten jealous. I never let them shoot anymore!

The first three were shot at ISO1600. Can you believe it?

I just got my lens back from being service for front focus. It does focus better, but when focusing at MFD that's where things start to go off, but what more can you expect?
