Hi guys!
Someone offered me really good money for my 1Dmk3.. more than i could say no too.. So until the 1D4 comes out i figured it would be a good time to try the 5D2. I really dont need the pro body right now, but i sure miss it a little now that im holding this new small camera in my hand :) Not cos of what it preform, but more of the size lol.

The 5D2 is great! Beautiful files, and the AF isnt as bad as i expected from all the posts ive read all around. The outer focus points works well.. just not in very bad light. Ive seen it hunt a few times in situations that i of course never saw with the 1D3. Not fair to compare these.. but i still do..

The display is superb! And batterylife.. well not as good as ive seen reported around here. Some claim that they get over 1000 shots on one charge.. I managed to get 600. Not playing around with the screen after every shot either.A little liveview work tho.

Anyways.. i really like this camera, and im waiting for the batterygrip. Might feel even better then? I really miss the size of the 1D.
So i havent had much time with it so far.. just a few snapshots at home to be honest, but if theres (like all other cameras ive owned) a learning curve to master this tool im sure its going to be great at the end!

First shots with the 5Dmk2 & 50L =)

About video..
Is there anyone who knows a good workflow to edit these hugh files?! What softwares to use to convert them to better format for editing?
Feels like i would need to convert the MOV files to something else .. the load on my PC is nasty as it is now
Using Quadcore Q6600, 4gb Ram and fast graphiccard (HD4850)

Congrats on your new camera. I think that the more you use it, the more you will grow to appreciate it and the superb results it is capable of!

I've been doing my homework on this. Seems Cinaform's NeoScene is the favorite at this point to convert files so that they're easy to edit. There's a 7-day fully functional trial (external link)available, but after that you'll need to pay $100 (external link).

I've tried the trial and use Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 to edit. Files straight from camera were very jerky...after using NeoScene, it works great (on the one test file I have which I took at the local Best Buy...my 5D2 arrives tomorrow :-) ).

nice 1 Bass... :)

check out the video section of POTN - got lots of good info there...

such as using VLC player to view raw files... (theres a 5d2 preference setting to perform to get it running nice)

my edit is jerky in premiere pro - say 15fps... but the resulting files turn out fine... theres some of my 5d2 vids here www.emotion.smugmug.com (external link) in full HD too if your monitor can hack it...

im gonna try what perfany has just recommended.

OK this is amazing... do what PERFANY said...

ive been lazy and havent looked into this much - as i havent had the time.... no more jerkyness in premiere pro CS3... only some very slight frame drop while watching realtime speed... (mainly when the clip changes..)

unreal... just did trial... you convert your 5d2 footage.... creates a new AVI file bigger... and i think changes some of the colour to make it more cinematic.. niice... will use my 7day trial and then spend my $100 i spose,, :)

Have to ask.. what format do you convert it too with this program?

Congrats on the 5D2, I think you'll love it. I've been using Photoshop CS4 with Camera RAW 5.2 which comes with it. I have the same RAM and Quadcore chip, and have had very rapid conversions and no problems with either program despite the size of the full RAW files.
