Why did the 10-22mm just go up 40 bucks?

Bh and adorma had it for 660 now its 700? I don't know who to blame canon or the vendor? But they issue a 50 dollar rebate and not much into it, they raise it back 40 dollars. So now a big 10 dollar rebate!!

I mean the lens is already higher than used to be by a decent amount, come on guys this is getting crazy. I feel like they on purpose try to take us. Wasn't 660 enough? geesh

50mm f/1.4 went from U$D 325 to U$D 400, the 1.4x extender went from U$D 290 to U$D 310, 300mm f/4L IS went from U$D 1210 to U$D 1225... and those are just three examples!

Its just crazy like the 1.4 going from 325 to 400. And no added benefit....I"m a hobbiest. I wanted the 85mm or 50mm but it there going up 80 dollars I Have two choices.

1. Don't buy and stick with what I got.
2. Buy used

And i'm sure some of us here will do the same. Now if your here and PRO you don't have this choice...ify ou need a lens you need a lens and just have to pay for it.

I just don't see why the price on the 10-22 was raised 40 bucks and the rebate is 50. 10 dollars is just not enough for me to buy if I was on the edge..heck I gues 50 wasn't either becuase I didn't bite then.

$40 jump in price is nothing compared to what the 10-22 is selling for in Canada now... used to be that it could be had for around $800CDN a few months ago. Now, it is almost $1000CDN... and those are pre-tax prices. :(

Read HyperYagami's link. Switching to Nikon won't help.

Thanks for the link, it was very good reading, albeit a bit long.

The jump in price for the 10-22 is worth it. I would never sell mine. It should have a red ring around it.

I have an old excel sheet here with lenses I want to get... the last time it was saved is almost 18 months ago....
17-55 IS was in the low $900 CDN (now high $1200 CDN)
the 135L, I bought at $900 CDN (now $1100+)
the 300L f4 was $1100 when I came to within inches of picking it up (now $1400+ CDN)
The Sigma 10-20... I had actually won the auction on a new one from what appeard to be a reputable vendor. The price came at just under $400 US including shipping to Canada. I dunno why he gave me a shipping to Canada charge, because once we agreed that the price was fine, he refused non-US Paypal, and non-US credit cards...

Everything is up! xcept my salary :-(

Price increase could be attributed to supply and demand - less people are buying so maybe Canon is trying to offset the lower volume with higher prices. Economies of scale. Also, the yen is pretty strong against the dollar.

i think canon is also suppressing supply to "justify" raising prices. sorta like the oil situation. we are awash in the stuff yet they are cutting supply to keep prices high.
