This picture is comprised of 15 minute subs, totaling 4.5hours of exposure.

Located in the constellation Sagittarius, the Trifid nebula is a beautiful combination of reflection nebula (blue) and emission nebula (red).

That's a ripper mate. Long subs and patience paid off.

Thanks Gil, Troy and Elizabeth.

I would have liked more subs. I got 18 x 15 minutes on Sunday night. I went out again last night and it clouded over all night. I spent the time constructively and took darks, flats and flatdarks instead.More subs is always good, but I think I will leave the Trifid now and move on to other targets.

The Eye of God (Helix nebula) is next on the list with the Bug and Dumbell nebula's up the list after that.

Very nice indeed that man! You are so lucky to have skies dark enough to run to 15 minute subs, I doubt there is anywhere in the south east of the uk where that is feasible. I am stuck to about 7 mins with a LP filter

Very nice A! Add it to the challenge. The forecast shows 3 clear nights starting tonight so I'm hoping the wife can help me setup and than sit on my couch. M20 and the Helix are LATE night objects for me right now but we'll see what happens. Looking forward to your Helix :)

Beautiful image Baz. Focus and color look spot on.

Great work once again.

Thanks very much everyone. I wish the full sized TIFF was more web friendly. The file is huge compared to the compressed JPG displayed here. Very smooth and no JPG artefacts.

I am working on a new website ATM and will be displaying my pics there in much higher resolution. The current site I have has terrible visualisations unfortunately.....
