haha thanks! i'll try to get a hang of the corgi.

until then, i'll probably look for a different m42 adapter. the adapter i have now gets in the way of the aperture lever on the 135, so i can't stop down on the fly :(

Just got hold of a CZ 28mm f2.8 Distagon, C/Y-mount. Wish I could post some nice landscape pictures, but the crappy weather here won't let me... So, I'll just post a very basic still life of a dead rose in a vase (click for a larger version):

f4.0, tripod, slight curves adjustment and sharpening

And the mandatory 100% crop:

The 28mm sure seems as sharp as the rest of the CZ lenses for the Contax/Yashica.

EOS 500D, Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM, Sigma AF 70mm f/2.8 EX DG macro

Brought my Zeiss 85/1.4 Planar out to play today...I haven't used it a whole lot as I found it too difficult to focus on the 30D, but it's a lot easier on my 1Ds II...also, I have a pro grade focus confirm adapter in the mail, with microadjust built into it, so I should be able to get dead on accuaracy from it soon. Now to decide whether to keep my 85 Sonnar or keep my 85 Planar. That's a tough call!

Anyway, 85 f/1.4 Planar @ f/1.4...As opposed to the Zeiss 50s, the Zeiss 85s have VERY nice bokeh, and the 85 Planar has exceptional bokeh, except for specular highlights at f/2 and f/2.8 (ninja-star).

Not trying to spam this thread too much with free lenses, but I have a Contax/Zeiss 28-85 if anybody is interested. It is in great optical condition, but it sticks a bit (on the push-pull zooming) at the 28mm position. It focuses smoothly and all, but it's another lens I need to find a home for (Contax is not compatible with Nikon, either) if anyone wants it.

Still got the lens Tom?

Vivitar 85/1.4 on FE10 with cheapo Fuji 200 developed at Wolf Camera (finally found a use for that store!) and scanned on a V500.

I've never even heard of this lens Tom. Do you have anymore samples with it? Is it an old lens?

Here is a thread with some feedback/samples (most with a D700) -> https://photography-on-the.net …ighlight=vivitar+85%2F1.4

And here is the flickr group I started when I bought my copy, now with 38 members and over 200 shots -> http://www.flickr.com/groups/vivitar_85_14/ (external link)

It is a Korean made lens that is sold under several names (Vivitar being one) that was released earlier this year. It goes for just over $300 in most places and is an aspherical design. It produced attractive bokeh and is quite sharp for the money.

The Nikon variant will work fine on a D300 or D700 body as an AI-S style lens.

Its a tough lens to beat for the price/performance ratio it offers. If you look at its specs, it appears to be a shameless rip-off of the 85/1.4 AF-D, though without the metal body or autofocus.

LOL

I'll tell my wife that Wolf's developing is why my shots don't all look perfect! ;)

Honestly, I'm at fault for not adjusting the exposure and levels during the scan, though.
