Well, I finally received my Canon 100mm Macro Lens from Roberts Imaging. At the time I bought it the price was still $490 before the $35 rebate.

However, the invoice/statement (paid) included with my camera had a $35 price hike on it, and my credit card was also charged $35 more than the amount that had been on the screen when I paid for it.

Although I got an email that my order was in process, it did not include the price. It just included an order number.

I never got the email saying that it had been shipped either.

I am going to call them later today (it is too early now). I will update you on their response and whether they refund my $35. If they do not, I am also going to post on the Reseller Ratings site.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the paper enclosed with the lens. What a disappointment.

I'm sure they did not mean to charge the discrepant amount. However I think your experience indicates that their e-commerce / billing systems need an update. Their website just doesn't inspire confidence (in my personal opinion) and this is one of the reasons why I stick to B&H.

I'm interested to hear the outcome as I was looking to get a 50D from them.

I could not find a rating for them on the sellers ratings site. People swear they are legit and I do not doubt it with all the responses in the other threads. Keep us posted & good luck!

Marci,

I can certainly understand your dissappointment. I too saw it listed at $490 and was very tempted to get one. But let's look at the situation. Even with the price change, you are still paying the same price for the lens had you ordered it from B&H or Adorama. Second, at least you got a lens. If you had bought from B&H or Adorama, you'd still be setting there waiting for it to come back into stock as both places are backordered. So let me ask you, did you come out any worse by ordering from Roberts than if you had bought from B&H? I say you actually came out better, because you have a lens in the hand for the same price, rather than still having the lens in your cart on B&H and Adorama's web site.

Why not give them a chance to straighten things out before posting about it? I mean who knows, it might have been a mistake.

I bought my 10-22 from them 2 weeks ago... it was listed at the old price, they applied the rebate, and charged me accordingly. I agree, their site leave a bit to be desired, but I had no problem with their processing. I agree with the above poster... give them a call and try to straighting it out.

No doubt ... Roberts will probably credit you the $35 bucks. Like stated above, why not give them a call first before posting?

Don't be sorry ozziepuppy and don't let these guys rattle you.......why shouldn't this member post what they posted originally ? I would be ticked if my card was charged for more than what I was led to believe. Who cares if it was just a mistake......the OP wasn't badmouthing anyone, just stating that they were charged more than what the website advertised. I know I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of getting my money back, I'm busy enough as it is.

Thanks for sharing ozziepuppy and warning us of what could happen if we order from this place.

I probably would have missed the discrepant charge altogether since I just assume they are charging the correct amount at the time of purchase, especially if I get a receipt in the email confirming my order. Thanks for posting and advising the rest of us if we do order from Roberts.

Thank you, James and Steve. You both stated what I was thinking, only you did it better than I did.
