The trick with Li-ons is to store them in a charged state... last a lot longer that way.

I just got 2 Opteka 1200mAh Batteries for my Rebel XT from a friend that had 6 Batteries for his XTi which he sold , he kindly kept 2 for me ( Sold the rest and Grip as a package ) ,

He says that they are less than a year old and Most have been sitting doing nothing for up to 6 Months .

I charged both as I got them , my original Canon Batt was due for a charge so as the first one finished charging I put it in that was yesterday Today I went to shoot and to be honest I did not look at the Battery level but after 10 shots I was down to one bar , took it out put in the other Opteka and took another 15 Shots and it seems to be holding it;s charge .

The one that ran down is now in the Charger , do you think that it just needs a few charges to be back up and running ?

Sometimes batteries wear out. Charge it, use it, charge it, use it, if it's not working fine a responsible way to dispose of it.

Do the sterlingtek's work with the standard Canon NB-2LH battery charger?

I searched this thread for Lenmar batteries and got nothing. I confess I didn't read every page, but for those who have them, how do you rate them? I have two new ones coming for the 1DMkIIN tomorrow. I suppose I should refresh them right out of the box, then charge? Do I need to take pictures of ducks? :)

I ordered 2 NB-2LH batteries 2 weeks ago. The shipping was fast and the batteries have been goo so far. +1 for SterlingTek.

Thanks,
Brian

My Lenmars arrived, I refreshed and chaged them, then refreshed and recharged both before using them. I am still shooting on the first one and am at 1573 shots with lots of chimping, deleting, and viewing the images on the cards. That seems very good for an 1800mAh battery.

Quick question - Can I mix and match these

http://sterlingtek.com/cabpbapaeq.html (external link)

With the Canon BP-511A that comes with the 50d?

Thanks!

I have used a Canon and an aftermarket battery both at once in the grip of my 40D and saw no ill effects.
