Hope you enjoy your new 24-70 as much as I enjoy mine! Post some pictures to the Lens Photo Thread once you get the chance.

I noticed this too. 6 months ago Amazon stocked a lot of lenses. Thats where I got my 24-70. But seems like they aren't interested in carrying camera gear during these times. Hopefully they'll change there minds after the economy rebounds.

Congratz on your new lens. You'll love it. :D

You can check for reviews first before buying.
But maybe you will also get used to it.

Checking reviews doesn't affect what shows up on my door step, it's a roll of the dice, I just got unlucky.

It's an awesome lens. Mine sits on the 5D most of the time, but wanders to the 40D on a few occasions. Excellent piece of glass!

I ordered one from Amazon on the 17th of this month. No hint of when they'll get it to ship. I'm just hoping they honor the deal and don't cancel my order to raise the price.

Ordered mine from B and H and wouldn't you know, they will be closed Friday and Saturday. Hoping they got it sent before they close down for 2 days, anxious to get it because I am leaving on a trip next Wednesday.

Just remember to give yourself some time to learn the lens.
I has taken me about a month to really get a good grip on it.....

while i don't mind the weight now ... it does take a little getting use to when shooting close objects hand held.

I shot a wedding last weekend and use the 'brick' and 85mm f1.8 - 95% (split 50/50 between the 2).
The images from the 'brick' are silky gorgeous and have depth.

enjoy your new toy!!!

Later,
_Mark

I typically use two 40D bodies when I'm shooting. My 24-70 pretty much never comes off one of the bodies cause I love it. I think you'll enjoy it greatly.

When I shot Canon, I had two of these. Superb lens. I did have the 24-105/24-70 question the entire time, but I can say you won't be disappointed with the 'brick'.

I really think the 24-70L is in its own league - f/2.8, nice bokeh, fast auto-focus speed, better close-up capability, good colours & contrast. I tried a few copies before I bought it from a local store and the soft copy issue seems over-rated in my issue. In fact, I had a soft copy 50 1.4 and got it fixed through calibration.
