Well I only just spotted this today on another forum.

To say I am stunned, is an understatement.

I felt really let down by Canon when I first discovered my 5D2 was always on auto. I'd look at other people's videos as they are focus pulling with a lovely shallow DOF and I'd shed a tear. (maybe two)

I did not want to go down the route of fitting clapped out Nikon glass :) I wanted to use my 70-200 f/2.8.

I bet the canon site will be on a go slow on the 2nd.

Awesome!! Teh update comes out when I am on vacation though, almost a little leery of doing a firmware update in the middle of it!

Better ? Why ? Naively, one can think that having 30FPS is way better.
Maybe you meant that 24FPS is a de-facto standard.

And, BTW, 29.97FPS is also considered standard.

I was being sarcastic (had the  )

Some people like 24p because it's similar to film.

In America (NTSC land) 30/29.97 fps may be standard, but over here in PAL land 25fps is what we use. :)

This is very positive. My guess is that a competitor is about to come out with those features and Canon wants to keep the 5D2 on top.

I'm anxious to get the firmware. Maybe some day, I'll actually put the video feature to good use.

i'd put a small wager on the fact that canon wont make this manual mode available on the t1 or lower models... keep the hardcore vid guys popping for a 5d2.

From what I have read in other places there won't be an Av or TV, just full manual.

I cannot complain. It might make me think more about my exposures :)

Are you sure? Just full auto or full manual? That would be stupid!

I doubt there is a huge population of 5Dmk2 owners out there, at least not one large enough to slow down their servers. Besides, firmware files aren't that large.

Maybe we can all download it multiple times on as many computers as we have access to. That might make it crash. :)

but when you click on download page, it's still the 1.0.7 firmware.

edit: whoops never mind, they change it from "Now Available" to "Coming Soon"
