I like your first shot. Lots of color! These remind me of the little tricycles my family used for island transport in the Philippines...

Now, I know these are in Thailand, so I would expect to see a little haze in the sky due to humidity. I'm guessing that's what is causing the lightness in the upper left corner, or perhaps it was really sunny that day. I like the composition in photo #2, and love the colors.

In the second shot I am trying to figure out where the sun is, and I'm concluding that you are shooting directly into the sun. That would explain why the upper half of the picture is suffering from glare or forward scatter.

Yes, shooting into the sun. This is with my 17-85, not the best preformer but my best lens at the time. I want to go back with my 5d and L's.
