I haven't had any of the problems you've just listed with mine.
Luck of the draw I guess.

bnorm27 Member ![]() 124 posts Joined Oct 2007 Location: Somwehere in the Swamps of Jersey More info | I purchsed an Opteka for my XTi. I ordered it from Amazon for $89 with two batteries. They are just as good as the Canon batteries. When I bought my used 20D, I ordered another Opteka grip for that one, again with the two batteries for around $89. This one has worked like a champ as well.

We make (made?) a product that had the Craftsman (Sears) brand name on it. It was one of our products with different paint and a few other cosmetic differences. MANY products are sold in the same way. Example ... as buurin pointed out ... "same mold and factory" as the Canon grip. I also worked for a major manufacturing company (31 years). We built our own major brand tires and "Private Label" brands as well and in the same plant and often using the same molds. One just as good as the other? No, the materials, design, and the QC were a difference. Same plant, same mold, but same quality? No.

Because if it somehow ruined the camera (battery leak?) then I don't think canon would fix it, whereas they would if it was a canon product that caused the ruining of your camera. (Thats paraphrasing of what a piece of paper said that I got from canon) 7d|tamron 17-50mm f2.8

There is interest in using your system.
