I was at an NFL training camp today, and a guy was using this to shoot. Isn't this lens a little too long for sports? Especially since he was RIGHT on the field. I imagine it would be hard to compose a shot.

If he were shooting full frame it might not have been. I use it all the time to shoot soccer with a FF camera and it's actually pretty nice.
