... and still no verification re: posting photos from the trial (intact EXIF data would show that he has photos of what he said he was shooting, that were not copied off the 'net).

Well, SOT had a preview of the 5D II before it came out. Didn't share a whole lot of info b/c of the NDA, but it turned out to be credible (5D II introduced shortly thereafter) despite community doubts (including my own).

From that thread by esteemed SOT

then "5D replacement" they talk about features, which basically boils down to "more of everything" but not quite what say the 40D has in burst rates. Better ISO, more pixels (more than 12 less than 16), then moves onto another lens and some crap about flashes

Right on burst rate and ISO, but way off on MP. The two he got right were completely no-brainers. And I doubt Canon would deliberately understate the MP of the 5D II, seeing it´s so important to them.

Just like the last one: this is a random made up thread until there´s evidence.

Now it begins...

And once the actual camera is released some will start whining that it isn't what "they" wanted... ;)

Canon 1d 4 specs from a camera tester

This spec list comes from a Canon Camera tester.
* 1.3 crop
* Images ~16MP
* ISO 50-26500
* 8MP sRAW1 format providing images that seem to best 1D3 files in detail [typo corrected]
* Very clean images at ISO 3200. 6400/12800 take further processing very well
* Slightly faster FPS than 1D3 in real life shooting
* AF greatly improved and very good in low light (actual comment was ‘Nikon fast’ ;-)a
* Liveview AF – not up to fast sports use, but very usable otherwise
* Video as with 5D2
* Screen as per 5D2
* Ergonomic improvements with grips – some buttons moved
* Feels faster and more responsive in nearly all aspects of real use.

Your 'visit' to Canon about the 5D was vague, yet still wrong.

I don't care what the IV has or doesn't have. I just want it to come out so the III prices will drop. :)

Yeah, your right.. I never noticed it on the mkIII, but the earlier 1 series had it going all the way back to the Film 1V.
I forgot!

I had an interesting chat with our local CPS rep @ demo days.

He hinted that a 1D upgrade might be in the works for the end of the year--first part of next year-with a redesigned mirror box assembly.Hardware production may have been scaled back but R&D is still going forward.

The other thing he stressed was that Mk III owners that still had problems needed to get in contact with their local CPS rep--and they would be satisfied FWIW. Perhaps the impact of dissatisfied owners is starting to be felt at a corporate level.
