I love this thread. I know the DOF is a little too shallow in this photo but I'll try get some nicer ones soon!

PS- Loving your food photography Macobee and Sspellman!

I think if you look about here, you might see that you are far and above shooting and producing better images. You are using lighting techniques and DOF that gives us a clear view of what you are trying to convey. IMHO, too much here is OOF because the DOF is too thin and shutter speed too slow to give a clear view of the "model" (the food).

You have a clearer knowledge of what it takes to brings food to a vibrancy and make it appealing.

Looking forward to your next experiment :)

erh...thanks! im walking next to my shoes again! ok i do know a little bit what I am doing now, but still I think I have to get a coursefor photoshop, all my editing is done in aperture2, and i know from people that you get real pop and sharpness with using this unsharp mask in photoshop, but I cant seem to get a hang of that thing!

soopapoop, i like your second image very much, well done!

Kandyredcoi, I am using mainly 100 MM 2.8 lens and sometimes my sigma 17-70 mm with macro function

ishmelly:
1 very good, dont know what it is bit it looks good
2 bad background i would say, but thats personal
3 a bit odd plating, also yoru choc chips are old, and the black pot though nice it tells me just about everything thats around you! carefull with reflective stuff

Kzaroshen:
Likewise! I like yours too!
this is a neat and tidy shot of "swordfish?" i like the flare of light in the middle, the shallow dof works well here, just the cropped of left part of the dish is a bit a shame

Thanks Macobee! I took this shot a while back (a month or so) so I'm not 100% on what type of fish it is, but it could well be swordfish. I took this while I was doing an assignment (subject - People at Work) at my workplace for my photography course. This saturday I'll be going in to take some shots specifically of food for their website and menu, as they really liked my previous shots so hopefully I'll be getting some nice photos to post up here.

Coi.. thing is, most of your shots are OOF. You are using too narrow of a DOF to get any shots that are really worthy of posting 1/50th @2.8 get really nothing in focus.

The title of the thread is Post Your Food Photography.. not take some quickie snaps. You have some nice equipment, but you are not using it to any advantage. No need to be snarkie with Marco, by the way.

This thread does seem to have become the food snapshot thread. How difficult is it to just push a button and submit an image? What happened to assembling the dish, a setting, light it in an interesting manner and create something worth sharing?
