The second one is my preferred image, captures the action with the landscape.

Second one is great. As for the first one, I would have tried to frame him somewhere else besides dead center.

on the first one the eye kind of has to hunt for the subject because of the dark helmet vs dark background. maybe try to compose against a brighter bg like the sky.

Also I'd like to see a low angle shot to show the height of the jump. The second one is a nice image that combines the biker with a nice landscape

Yep, I take your point about the dark helmet colour, started to look through all the images for a brighter helmet / clothing rider.

I'm surprised, never thought about it too much before, but most riders are wearing darker colours.

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, but what kind of helmet the rider chooses for his safety is beyond the photographer's control! LOL It's a race, not a photo shoot.

I like #1 a lot. I probably would have cropped it a little tighter putting the rider on the left side of the shot and allowing the viewer's gaze to follow the trail to him, right to left. (make sense?) Even better yet, when setting up the shot, to put a left-upper focus point on the riders head, but also keeping the trail behind him still in the shot. Then the crop would be easy. My .02 Nice shots. :D

I like them all. #2 is the best. with all the back ground it adds to the "holy crap!" factor. looks like a great hill to me.
