I have a friend of mine that does security camera installations. He wants to find a camera that can do really wide shots, without spending a fortune on gear. Typical security cameras are as low as 5mm, he has tried my 17-55 f/2.8 IS on my crop body 50D and said it is not wide enough, but not bad. I suspect a true 10mm perhaps even 16mm would do the job.
He wants to go on-site and be able to take a few quick pictures from the location he is recommending a camera and have a rough idea what the view would be.
He is open to any option, even a point and click would be fine. He doesn't want to have to go into a FF and buy a $1,500 lens to do this.
Anyone have ideas what the cheapest solution here?
