Well I am joining the 1Ds2 club as of the 25th when it arrives. I am stoked. Anything I should know beforehand?

Congrats and welcome to the club!

Read this thread all the way through and that should give you a pretty good primer! :D

Cheers!

Just a bit of an odd shot I took tonight after sundown, purposely over exposing the scene and then correcting in post to create an interesting effect! The lens flare was artificially added but the rest of it was in the original frame....more or less. :D

QUOTED IMAGE

Cheers!

looks odd but very nice!!!

Cheers!

Can you give us a little details as to the settings used, and what was used as a post op software.
Was this a RAW file? to start with. I'm guessing is was not.

I use Aperture, on a MacPro.
I have PS3, but you need to possess mind altering powers that were not included.

I processed the raw file in Photoshop elements 6 with its ACR utility. I don't know if I could properly document every last setting I used but the essential task was to lower the exposure and then bring back the lost shadow detail which is what made the picture as noisy as it was and after that, in PSE6, just tweaking the colors, straightening up a bit of lens distortion in the original shot and then adding a few lens flare effects over top of each other.

Cheers!

Thanks!

I just tried reprocessing the shot in DPP instead and I think it came out much clearer that way.

Colours are a lot better with the new one. Not too keen on the fake lens flare though...although it does give something to focus on near the centre of the frame other than a big blown white spot.

Thanks! Yeah I know that lens flare effect can get pretty fake looking unless you're really careful with how you use it and I'm still a long way off from knowing how to use it 100% effectively.

Couple more from tonight...

A wide one, taken with the 24L and then a close up with the 70-200 f/2.8 IS w/2x extender on tripod with the IS off, 100% crop no added compression on the jpeg conversion. I think I need a more stable tripod for these kind of shots though because I can see a bit of camera shake.

I'm back. I'm in the process of trimming down my lenses and cams because i'm starting a new business and income is going to be low for the next 2 years. I just picked up my forth 1ds2 and this one is a keeper! It's only got 21k on the shutter and I'll have this for some time.
I borrowed my friends 5d2 for a week and when I picked this back up, I knew that this was it. I'll be in this thread more now.

And I've been out of this thread for a while but what happened to the hoff?

I was going to say that he gave up his 1Ds2, to maybe 1Ds3 or 5DII or even D3X;)
