I am going to purchase a sigma 10-20 from adorama and it comes with a filter, lens leash, and cleaning kit for 480 do you guys think this is a good deal. I guess my question is if i get a bad copy as seems to happen sometime with this lens is adorama good about taking things back or exchanging them out. Or do you deal directly with sigma at that point. I amno professional and I have not purchased online in the past so thanks for your experiences.

Myself, I do not buy used form Adorama. They make it difficult to return things.

I'd give them a shout and see what the SOP is if there's an issue with getting a wonky lens. As for the kit, there's a reason the kitted version costs the same as the lens only version, it's a crap kit. Save the postage. The lens itself seems to get decent reviews providing you receive a good copy.

I know some here like Adorama(I used to be one of them) but the last three orders I made they screwed the pooch with me ending up having to cancel the orders and try to find items locally(during regular business, not on any of their holidays). Heck, I even enjoyed dealing with Meyer as opposed to a lot of members at the time.

For over the year now all my new item purchases have been done at B&H, Amazon(love the free shipping), and local Mom and Pop shops. Well, aside from my ballhead(Markins).

Christian.

Call you local store. They may match the price and you can test the lens before you leave the store. The local store would certainly appreciate the business.

Good luck. I always give my local guy a chance to match the on-line prices. If they do- great. If not- I order it on-line. Let us know how it works out.

I would hope that your poor experience with the Adorama used department is in the past; there have been significant changes in staffing over the past few months, and improved standards in training and support.

I am always delighted to be able to assist any POTN member who has a concern or query with an order or complaint concerning Adorama.

Sincerely

[

I just want to say I've had only good experiences with adorama. (knock on wood.. :D)

even when they sent me the wrong flash umbrellas they made the returning to get the proper ones REALLY easy.
They emailed me a prepaid UPS label and I just had to ship it back to them...

I've also bought my bigmos there and it arrived quickly and is great!

I have purchased used equipment from Adorama before. It arrived quickly, working, and was at least as clean as they described. I would purchase used from them again.

I have been in their store and have seen a used 10-22 that looked like it was new. I think that is probably the norm unless the lens is listed as not like new.

I personally plan to hold on to my lenses for quite a while, so for the relatively small price difference and the peace of mind it buys me, I just buy new.

I try not to be used from any dealer period. Most of my used gear has come from the B&S forum right here. The equipment is in better shape and usually comes at a lower price.
