Some great shots. New to this photography thing so just having a bit of fun and seeing if I can manage to get what I see on camera. Harder than it looks. Here are a couple of other sunsets I had shortlisted to enter

Sunset above the clouds

Sunset over Lake Lefroy

And a sunrise my girlfriend managed to get from the window of a 737 last Friday morning. Full auto without flash. Almost entered it but for the reflection in the lower third

Thank you very much for the topic/judging!

My personal favorite was hi-landr's picture - how did you get that shot?

My G10 was good. My XS is better and here is my flickr (external link).

I'm sorry I missed this one, but here are a few of my favourite sunset pictures I've taken. Hope you like them.

Some fantastic images here people, I'm really going to have to get my camera out and come and play again.

Terrific photos peoples. I liked the photos that took the sunset theme on a tangent. Boutty, I really enjoyed your particular shot.

WOW.

I never expected to be thought of as deserving first place in a photo competition.

Thanks to Mfor for his excellent judging and to all the four of you for your kind words.

All I have to do now is figure out how to kick off the next challange.

Cheers.

Thanks host MFor for a nice topic. Congrats to Fergie for the top spot and the 2 runner ups - ryandood &
Gary. Well done folks for your stunning sunsets. Notes taken (hopefully).

Cheers Kev for enjoying my shot. My dodgy post process didn't pass the host's sharp eyes though.
Sh... it was taken in the morning - although the G6 was on my tripod (I think), but the camera setting
was at its long end (22mm) and my f-stop was at 5.6 - hence not so sharp image. Lesson learnt;
thanks to the speed challenge like this, I have managed to dig up photo and have fun with it. :p

The warmth from the sun and coldness from the snow in your photo makes me feel like going
to cross-country skiing! Great contrast of colours. ;)

Great job hosting, MFor. And a salute to Fergie, ryandood, and Gary for those excellent winning entries.

Very impressive images from all! :)

I didn't have any G-camera images for this topic, but sunsets were my favorite subject years ago when I was shooting large format (4x5) film. Of course I couldn't enter my Ektachromes in the challenge.

Attached are some of my sunsets, mini-sized. Guess I'll have to go out and re-do these with digital.

I was passing the site today so I thought I'd do a quick stop and grab a shot so you could see what it looked like in the daylight.
The lighting was bad so I had to brighten up the statue.
