I was off to take a shower this morning and I almost stepped on this. I ran to get my camera.

He was a quick little guy. I managed to only get a couple shots before it ran off. It is now hiding in the house somewhere.

That's called the House centipede. My wife hates it because of the way they look but after some searching it seems they should be our friends! lol They feed on the other more destructive insects like spiders, bedbugs, termites, cockroaches, silverfish, ants and other household arthropods. If you see a lot in your house you've got bigger problems than the House centipide. lol So if you see them try not to kill them because they're your pest control and friend! lol

The Garden type centipedes are reddish brown, much less legs, better built (the house Centipede's legs will come off very easily, not so for the Garden Centipede) a lot larger than that and have two modified arms in the shape of fangs a that can cause some damage (pain)if (s)he pierces you. The poison is not dangerous unless one has an anaphylactic reaction. They do not like light and will always run away when one turns on the light. They are nocturnal insects.

Good capture- lovely centipede. Might be house friendly but not sure I'd want one in the shower with me :)

Atleast you got your camera out. I would have probably smashed it before I did that.
