You won't regret getting the brick for your 5DII. I've had that L lens for many years now. It's still going.

Just got mine 5D MK II too with 16-35! LOVED IT! of course an addition of 24-70 will be very great =) MHO if you already have 50 1.4, go with 16-35. Don't be lazy! just move back and fort with your 50 1.4!! (hhihi kidding bro!)
