I have used SanDisk most of the time, no problems. I do have a few Lexar cards too. So far no problem.

iGuide - I guess you already know that if you have Pentax lenses from your K1000 days, you could use them on a Pentax DSLR? I had a number of long lenses from my Pentax and Ricoh film camera days, so I bought a Pentax *istDS so as to make use of the lenses.

Right now I have a 4GB SanDisk Extreme III card for my 5D Mark II, and its worked great.
I'm trying to decide on a 8/16/32GB combo and I keep going back and forth on spending lots of money and staying in the SanDisk family or going cheaper and a bit slower in something like the RiData or Transcend or Kingston family...I am not shooting serious professional shots yet, just personal stuff...so I keep thinking maybe I go cheaper and save money as I learn my photography skills and video shooting with the camera, then when I get serious buy the real good CF Cards like SanDisk etc...?

Good Day Everyone:

I would like to know if anybody in the community has any experience with SanDisk Vs Lexar memory cards? I have done enough research to learn that SanDisk are the most popular cards, while it seems that Lexar seem to be used by more professional, like Moose Peterson for instance. I have lost corrupted shots twice on a Transcend compact flash 33x 16GB and am looking to replace that card & acquire a few more while at it. I don't care to repeat that experience. I have done enough reading to learn that it might also be my reader or firewire and plan on replacing those also. Any suggestions? Also just what is the difference between UDMA cards and non UDMA cards, and which would be more appropriate for my work?

I shoot with a 50D, all outdoor photography in RAW format.

Thanks for the help![:)]

You'll probably get as many different answers in direct relation to how many people you ask.

I've used nothing but Sandisk (OK, I have one Lexar card, I actually found it) and have had no trouble except for one card that no longer worked after being put thru the washer AND dryer. (I think it was the dryer that killed it). The lone Lexar card has worked just fine as well.

If you're shooting all RAW, you're going to want larger capacity cards, at that I think I would be less comfortable with lesser known brands, but that's just me.

I currently use a Sandisk Ultra II 2.0 GB in my Canon EOS Rebel XTi. I have had no problems with the card. We are going to BC later this year and hopefully toakinga bunch of pictures. I have little experience with the RAW feature. In short what size card should I use? More 2 GBs or just get larger ones? Thank you for your opines, in advance.

Rk

I've got about 60 GB of SanDisk Extreme III and Extreme IV CF in 2-8 GB capacities, and another maybe 30 GB of SanDisk blue, Ultra II and Extreme III/IV SD of 2-8 GB sizes. No problems.

Hi Bodryn:

Thanks for the information, however I do not own any Pentax digital cameras.

Thanks:

DennisW1

Transcend is the card that cost me a bunch of photos. I'll not use them again.
