Well, I went on Canons web site today to show a co-worker my camera and come to find out they removed it from their web page. Maybe its predecessor is on its way out?

It would make sense. Canon probably hasn't manufactured the camera since the spring at the latest, and they claim to be on a 12 month cycle now for that line of cameras. Shouldn't be too long before we start seeing all the major manufacturers out of stock on the brand new camera everyone is looking for! ;)

They probably stopped production when they started producing 50D's. They kept it in the catalog as long as there was sufficient inventory.

Well, it's not on the front page of the EOS website, but you can still search for it and find it at the Canon site. Just put 40D into the search field at the top of the page. I'm not surprised it's gone, since the 50D replaced it a while ago.

Let's hope, I've heard some sweet rumors about the 40D's predecessor. 8MP, 5fps, DIGIC II... it should fly off the shelves.

;)

It has been moved to the Product Archive section. Apparently, it is no longer a current model. It is two years old now. I ordered mine in August 2007.

Oh no. Might be a coincidence but now that the 40D has been removed from the front page, my camera suddenly stopped working altogether.

I forget where exactly, but the easy way to show it is that the 50D came out a year after the 40D.

The 40d body will be 500-600 bucks by January if they release the 60d... I can't wait.

That might be indicative Canon's new pattern, but confirmation from Canon would be better. I guess we'll find out in a month.

Adorama has refurbished 40D for $700 right now. IF the 60D/7D comes out next month $500 for a 40D is probably right. Crazy, but right.
