by comparing to B+W and Lee, is Heliopan 105 mm Circular Polarizer Multi-Coated (SH-PMC) good enough?

Heliopan is the highest price one, before put money on it, just want to make sure it's good enough. The reason I want to purchase this one because this is the only Multi-Coated one among these 3.

any suggestions?

105mm ? Is this a typo or special CPL to compensate for UW on FF?

Are you getting this for your 17-40?

I have a B+W 77mm MRC Slim something ...

It's like $130 from Hvstar - have not checked lately.

It's not typo, it's 105mm to fit Lee holder kit. Yes, it's for 17-40L, my B+W 77mm Slim MRC CPL will be used on my 24-70L.

I would never buy a Heliopan filter. They are overpriced, and not as good as B+W, or others. Here is a recent test of CPL's confirming this: http://www.lenstip.com …arizing_filters_test.html (external link)

I use a 105mm B+W Kaeseman, a great filter, and less expensive than the Lee (which I have not tried). I would not use the Heliopan.

The test is for 72mm. Other than overpriced, is there anything really wrong with it? The reason I got it because this is the only 105mm CPL has multi-coated.

The test is indicative of the quality of the various filters and it doesn't matter what size they tested. The fact is Heliopan is an over-rated and overpriced filter.

well, I got it already. based on my 1 day experience, it's not that bad, at least = B+W. I don't know if anybody else has different experience.

I wouldn't worry about some esoteric test. If you have the filter, take a good, properly exposed shot and post it here. Then ask others what brand and size filter was used. I'll bet that 99 out of 100 would have no idea. As if anyone here can tell that 0.001% of the light did not get transmitted through the filter (or some other meaningless stat that can't be observed with the naked eye). Use it and enjoy it...too many people obsess over their gear instead of actually putting it to good use.

FWIW...I use the Lee 105 circular polarizer...works just fine. I'm sure that your Heliopan will be just as effective.

I see you're using the $300 Lee CPL setup. I was wondering if it came with the adapter to use with the Lee Foundation Kit or if it had to be purchased separately?

With the Lee Foundation Kit holder, can you use any 105mm CPL?
If so, which 105mm adapter is needed? I see two: one for $52 & one for $119. Thanks!

The first link is the correct ring - the "front thread adapter ring" ($52), which attaches to the front of the holder and to which one attaches the 105mm CPL. The second link is to an "adapter ring", which attaches to a 105mm lens and to which one attaches the holder. Each different front thread-size lens requires an adapter ring in order to attach the holder (for example, a 77mm front thread lens requires a 77mm adapter ring). For WA lenses, I use a "wide angle adapter ring", instead of the standard ring, to lessen the chance of vignetting (I use this on my 16-35/2.8 II: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …82_Adapter_Ring_82mm.html (external link) ).

Thanks a bunch!
~$200 for a 105mm CPL + $52 for the adapter is a lot more manageable than what I had originally thought it might be.

Yes, I'll definitely pick up the WA adapter ring as I'll probably be using this setup mostly for landscapes on a 5DII & 17-40L with soft GND's.

The Kaesemann 105mm CPL is impossible to find. Anyone know where I can find it?
