First chance to try my hand at lightning pics. (moved in a few weeks ago).

their was quite a bit of lightning before it arrived at downtown, once it was over downtown, it fizzled out. I at least got one good one out of the bunch of 20 or so.

super large version can be found here.

Would've been an excellent shot even without the lightning. I'm jealous, b/c I've been trying to do the same thing in my town, Jacksonville. Where's this at?

WOW... siiiiick photo!

Didn't know Houston could look that cool. I also had no idea the lightning storm was that bad.

Also!

Where were you at when you took this shot? I've been wanting to do some long exposures with the Houston traffic but I want find a good location first.

Beautiful shot CustomMinds, I have yet to capture lightning. There's not much spectacular lightning around where I live in the UK :(

mnbruce - Thanks Bruce!

Zoso - Thank you. I agree. It is usually too cloudy here.

heladepela - thank you. I think lightning in general makes a good subject. Where in the UK do you live? My friends moved there last year.

hung & zphoto - Thank you both. The settings were as follows
iso L (50)
shutter 30 sec
16 f stop
Auto WB
stuck camera on a tripod and tried to not move it during the 30 seconds
lighting used: lightning ;-)a
