Windows 7.0 free till 20/08/09

Most techie guys around here most likely don't mind installing a new OS and I imagine that most have a few extra HDD's laying around. Swap out HDD's and then do a fresh install of WIn7. From what I've read, the RC doesn't expire until mid next year. That gives you a whopping 6-9 mos to try it out. By then, you'll/we'll be wanting to do a fresh install.
Of course, this is JMO.

I've been running Win7 for a few months now and I believe it's by far the best Windows OS to date! I thought I would try and run XP forever (I skipped Vista) but when I built my new computer I thought I'd give the RC 64bit version a go. It's very fast and has crashed like... never! Everything I used before is compatible the only problem I had was getting my printer to share on my Vista laptop. But I think that's totally a Vista issue (we JUST got the laptop). Luckly it's getting a free Win7 upgrade in October.

I don't know if I would recommend installing the RC version because yes- you are going to have to reinstall a new copy of windows and that is a pain in the a**. I would simply recommend buying it when it comes out and be done with it. I am glad I have tried the RC version because I am looking forward to BUYING it!

Serious questions here and looking for qualified advice...

Last fall I purchased a DELL XPS 420 Core2Quad Q6600 4Gb, running two 250gb sata drives (one for OS and apps, one for PS scratch) and Vista Home Premium. I'm running, dual screens but don't remember the video card.

(Personally, I've only had a couple of very minor issues with Vista. Overall, it's worked great for me and I just updated to SP2.)

My question are...

Will Win7 run well with my current hardware?
Which version of Win7 should I use: 32-bit or 64-bit?
Can I install Win7 on a new SATA drive and keep my current Vista OS drive in the box too (just set it to boot from the new Win7 drive)?
Does the (free) Win7 have Remote Networking enabled?

Windows7 Ultimate 64 work under 2 gigs of ram and less cpu power than you got. So yes it runs and it leave dust in the air Before you install win 7 do one thing for me and you will be surprised.. Press ctrl alt del and the system device window will pop up, to terminate process etc etc.. Click the performance tab and read the % of cpu usage.. After u install win7 do the same and the difference between this both is HUGE.. More than 46% less cpu power..

I wouldn't suggesting installing this version, except to test out compatibility with your devices. It will cease functioning early next year, forcing you to install a full version.

That fact alone makes me NOT want to install it.

They did the same exact thing with the Vista RC 1 and 2. There's no reason to expect to use a fully-featured, nearly 100% completed OS for free forever.

It is, however, an EXCELLENT option if you'd like to see how your system handles it before forking over the $150.

doing a fresh install once or twice a year is a good idea anyways.

2. 64 bit and don't look back.
3. Yes. You will be able to choose which one you want in the boot up menu.
4. Yes. I don't use it but you have the option. You also have remote media sharing. I.E. you can listen to your tunes from anywhere you can get a wi-fi connection. Secure? Yes...
The snipping tool is cool. I used it to cut out this article then highlighted with the marker and drew the happy face with the pen.

The big difference with this 2 OS as I said in my first post is the CELL. 128mb vs. 3 gigabyte!!!!!!!! Microsoft attended to make even more heavy OS and video game publishers and Application publishers.. But the consumer wave changed if you notice the market.. Heavy programs are not selling anymore. Light programs with better performance and features are more attractive to us as we can’t buy a brand new computer each time something new is coming out!!..

Vista is extremely bugged especially with HARD DISK management, cpu usage and ram problems. Bill Gates fired many after vista released as they couldn’t sell!! There is an apology link by Microsoft somewhere... that’s why they didn’t use vista with Olympics and many other events. They used XP and Max Os.

At least I took original vista pr. 32bit with my computer (free copy) so I dont feel bad that I got them or paid for them.

WIN7 and XP are really nice to play with.

I met once a student in a british University and he worked as a tester (not beta tester) with microsoft. He said : we know all the bugs that windows got, we create some, so you can buy or upgrade stuff more often. He said that 9 years ago and right now I see that microsoft chose a different path because they can't control the piracy and the whole market. Thats good for us.

Another example is Microsoft Office. Once it was bind with OS .. MAC OS gives it free.. Now you have to buy it!! to type with an automatic spelling grammar add-on you have to pay XXX money!! ..Piracy helped Microsoft understand that this is greedy... From 2010 Office will be free again!!! u know that"??? They will add some advertisements instead... while you type (in the btm of your screen.) But there is always a way to avoid that. The ancients said once.. If you can’t escape from the r@$#e you have to enjoy it. Sounds like that to me. So enjoy the perfect win7 .. The new marketing money draining trick at this stage is the Market place with lots of goodies and add-ons if you want your OS look perfect.. But it is not necessary, thank god.

I use Firefox w/ popup blocker and noscript. I have to use IE7 to downlaod Win 7.

It’s a downloader but you have to register first. The downloader looks like torrent client. It comes with full speed! for example I can dl with 890kbps and I took it in 25 minutes!! 3.5gigs.. All windows got IE except if you uninstalled it.

After that, you have to burn it in a dvd. Save all your ciritical data, images, text, etc etc.. restart and boot from the dvd. When the main window comes up, click advance install and delete/create partition, the format it and install it. (method with format). You can also choose upgrade without click in delete or format commands... .. (personally I never use it..)

I might be getting with my new desktop. I think my laptop is done for so instead crapsta I'll download this.

Why is it 3.5GB? I thought you said it was 128MB?

Tried both and no go, screen just jumps around then says my id is wrong or the site is having trouble??
