Ok for those of you who don't know what Venice of the North is - its Stockholm, Sweden.
My hometown if you will, although its been 5 years since I was last "home". I got a chance to spend 2 weeks visiting family and during the days I did some "sightseeing". I was told I can't sightsee in a city I grew up in but I guess in a way I did, since I did things I never did when I lived there.
I shot about 1800 photos while there, some better than others, I've posted a couple of hundred sorted by category on my website if you're curious to see more...thought I'd share a few of my favorites (trust me, it was hard to narrow it down, such a beautiful town).

I shot the whole trip with my 20D and Tamron 28-75mm, with polarizer attached. Some levels and slight saturation boosts only on some of the shots.

I shot this on a cruise ship on the way back to Stockholm after being in Turku, Finland for the day. I was up on deck and tracked the boat coming around the bend, out of 5 shots I loved how this one came out with the arch in the water and all.

A shot of Stockholm City Hall from Central Bridge, shot the same day as the view from City Hall Tower below, it was a GREAT day for pictures.

View from City Hall tower - even with the polarizer I had a slight glare on the water. What you see if Riddarholmen and behind it Old Town and off on your right you'll see part of south side as well.

I've been playing with stitching in PSE, this is a 6 shot stitch I took from south side of City Hall, Kungsholmen trailing off on your left, Riddarholmen and Old Town on your right.

Another stitching, 4 images of Drottningholm - the royal family's official residence. I realize this image is leaning but I don't want to make it any more narrow than it already is.

A shot of the countryside on my way to Skokloster and Sigtuna north of Stockholm, shot through the windshield of the car.

And lastly, two of my favorite shots from Old Town. I LOVE walking around in Old Town, so nice and quiet once you get past VÀsterlÄnggatan (big EXPENSIVE souvenier and tourist street). I spent some 4+ hours walking around there that day.

Thanks Stan.
I just now realized the last two pictures weren't right, I've corrected that, got to show off my favorite part of town. :) Its a beautiful city, unfortunantly they had a lot of construction going on when I went so just about every picture had some sort of construction crane in it, but its still pretty - summer can't be beat in Stockholm. I hope you get to visit on day.

LOL, well go while you can still walk tho - its a city made for walking, despite all the tour buses, boats, etc. Be sure to walk the back streets of Old Town and go up in City Hall tower if you ever go...I can't believe I didn't do the latter sooner. Darn that's a good view from there! Well worth the 6 flights you have to walk up after the elevator takes you halfway.

Thank you. :) Nice to hear someone likes the stitching too since I spent quite some time on those in comparison to the other photographs. Problem now is printing - some odd sizes I've come out with like 4x27 and 4x35.

I don't know. They don't look that good at all to me. And if you believe that I have some Ocean front property in Arizona I'd like to sell you:p

Some very nice pics. I too would love to visit one of these days. Maybe when I win the lotto.
