I always use my hoods unless it's a quick shot with the sun at my back.

The only time I have a hood off is when I am shooting through a fence and need to get close.

Yes, I use a designated hood on all of my camera lenses. A lens hood is designed to minimize and/or eliminate lens flare that can present into your lens when shooting photography in the daylight outdoors. I keep a hood intact on the lenses for protection in order to prevent inadvertent drops, scratches, cracks or fingerprints from occurring. This in combination with a UV/Haze filter, provides ample protection to some expensive lenses!

Forsooth, I do not use mine. I've only found myself in one situation where flare was a problem.

Depends. I do not have a hood for 10-22 and 100 macro. I am also having difficulties using a CPL with a hood on.

Use it for the added protection it gives.

I use it. I just feel the hoods for the 24-70L and 70-200 f/2.8L IS are ridiculous buckets. But I still use 'em.

Agreed... huge and ugly, but they still serve the purpose intended, so I twist them on. Both for flair protection, and for lens protection, since I stopped using UV filters.

Depends. I use it all the time on my 17-35L, I don't have a hood for my 28-135, and I use it on my 70-200L always if I'm in bright sunlight, otherwise it's just when I feel like it. So I'm a true wishy-washy on hoods :p.
