So far, I've read about 35 pages, of the 134 that show up on my list. I'm gonna have to wait a while to catch up on the rest...no offense. I can only read so much, in 3 hours.

I bought Lisa's 1Ds2, coming from a 5D, which I still have for now. ;) I've enjoyed some of the shots that are still around in this thread and will hopefully contribute a few myself in the future.

Hard to give up the 5D, and I still don't know if I will, but, as long as this place is as fun as the 5D classic home, I'm game to stay. :)

I'm sure ya'll are just as cool. :)

Welcome to the club, cbouchez and inthedeck! Looks like you got a very nice deal from Lisa--that camera looks mint!

IMAGE: http://iluk.zenfolio.com/img/v2/p928725389-4.jpg

One nice thing about this thread--it's not infected by the "latest is the greatest, best-est camera" crowd in the 5D2 fora/threads.

Eh, neither is the 5D classic. ;) And yes, she took lots of nice images with it, so, I'm a happy camper. Glad I could help her out, in her time of need, too...which was my main reason for the purchase. ;)

Well, that and all the other things about a 1Ds2. ;) It'll take some time to get used to it, but, I'm sure I'll do fine....or so I hope.

Nice shot.

Congrats! I think this club is much smaller than the 5D one. :)

I am looking forward to your pics for sure.

If the price of 1Ds2 was same as price of 5D classic in the past, then i am sure that this club will be much bigger than the 5D one. ;)

Focus tests would be same with this camera as any other.

Put it on a tripod, take a shot of a fixed subject, review the shot on your computer.

Cheers!

Hey, thanks-but not a lens test, an AF speed test.

Hey, thanks-but not a lens test, an AF speed test.

AF speed tests are still going to be lens and light dependent and variable.

The faster the lens, like a nice prime and the amount of light you can give the camera to work with, the faster the focus lock is going to be. Picking one focus point instead of say, the "ring of fire", is also going to be faster.

Speed isn't really the issue. It's more so the accuracy and low light abilities that are going to shine through with the 1DsMkII.

Cheers!

I don't think there is that many 1Ds2's out there compared to 5D's so this club will always be smaller.
