I just got a used 5D in from Adorama and before I send it back I'd like to make sure it's not an easy focus screen fix issue. All the AF points except for the furthest right one don't light up. I could have sworn I've seen a thread on this in the past that it was simply the focus screen not installed properly but I can't find it and a google search hasn't been helpful.
Any other thoughts other than "it's broke"? :D
Thanks!

On page 77, you can select a focus point.

What the.... I did not just spend all this money on a camera to have to pick my own focus point.

Actually, my first post is crappy. What I meant to say, is that when I'm changing focus points, the only one that lights up is the furthest right one. The others don't. Terribly difficult to know which focus point you're using!

You should set it to the center point and leave it there. It's the best way way to obtain accurate focusing.

Do people even read anymore?
When I try to scroll through the focus points, only the furthest right one lights up. Could it possibly be a focus screen issue?

I would try getting an answer from Canon tech support on that one.

Definately not a problem with my 5D. I would call Canon before I sent it in though.

You have a problem. Send it back to Adoroma or, first, release the focus sreen and pop the holder back up and see if you still have the problem. Be carreful to not touch thr fucusing screen.

That doesn't sound like an issue with the focus screen. There is a PCB board in the top of the camera that I believe controls the lights.

Maybe there is a small chance that the super impose indicate plate has somehow come out of place. That is the plate that is visible after you take the focus screen out. It's held in there by a metal frame so I doubt it. It sounds like this camera needs to go back unfortunately.

the screen on top also shows you which focus point you're using.

Makes you wonder what "refurbished" actually means. Doesn't sound like much if anything is done to check the functions of the camera other than a cursory quick once over.

But he said "used", not refurbished. ;)
Altough my first refurb 5D had a focusing issue, so you're correct that the cameras aren't always perfect.

Adorama will take care of it. They have excellent CS.
