Challenge #237 - Ice
This is the topic for Speed Challenge #237. It's very hot right now where I live, and wildfires are raging. I'd like to see some photos of ice. I won't disallow snow photos, but I'd prefer to see water in a more solid form, e.g., ice cubes, crushed ice, icebergs, ice ponds, whatever. Any images, macro, infinity, or in-between, that depict ice. Great composition and creative lighting would be a plus. Hope you all have fun with this . . .

Thanks to all who entered Challenge #237. I truly enjoyed each submission.
Here are some comments, in order of posting:
Michael Wells - Winter at the Dam
Now that is beautiful! I'm in a dry area, and have never seen anything like this. I feel cooler just looking at it.
Piet - Like ice in the sunshine
Such tiny subjects, in front of a busy background, are never easy. A nice effort on what I would consider to be a very difficult item to photograph.
teekay - Glacier's End
What a beautiful wall of ice. I suspect that the lens was zoomed out a bit. Nice exposure, without blowing out the highlights. I guess this would be from Newfoundland or Alaska, probably the latter? In dry climes, this would certainly make a nice poster to look at during the dog days of summer.
Kevan_G9 - I'm melting...mel-ting! Argghh!
Kevan, Kevan! You would have had 1st Place secured early Sunday with your second posting, "burning cold," but you later deleted it! Argghh! The replacement image, your third, and final, posting, is not bad, actually very creative, I just thought your earlier "stovetop" entry was truly outstanding.
Boutty - "More ice sir"
Yes, I'll have some more ice! Really nice composition on this one, and I like the lighting as well. A very cool shot, and a nice take on the theme.
marie - cold comfort
Nice composition, marie, and sharpness. I've got to know, however, was this at home, or at a restaurant (where you tripped the waiter) . . or?? I liked this image so much. It gave me a chuckle.
TommyG - Cold hearted
Truly a stunning image, and a clever title. I wonder what the light source was, and how you got the reflections/shadows. Maybe it was originally shot vertically? Please let us know how you set this up.
Fergie - It's %*&+ ffffeezing in here
You're at it again, Ferg. Hilarious, ice fishing in the freezer! However, I notice that the expiration date on the mini bangers is 31 July, but, since they are frozen, I guess all is well. A very clever entry.
Maureen Souza - Frozen Treats
Wow, great colors and composition. They don't seem to be melting, so it must have been a cool time of day, or, you just acted quickly. Whether those are store bought or homemade, I don't know, but I want one.
The Top Three:
1st Place: TommyG, for Cold hearted
2nd Place: Fergie, for It's %*&+ffffeezing in here
3rd Place: marie, for cold comfort
