I took these Sunday and was planning to have a lot more but my turbo on my car took a dump and I had to cut it short. Any way let me know what you think.

The shadows are horrible. Try shooting at a different time of day.

I agree with what has already been said,
Shadows are harsh and don't seem to be in focus.
Also I think the streetlights in picture #4 and the crosswalk line behind the car draw to much attention away from the car.

Soft focus...and the last one has a light pole growing from the car.

but my turbo on my car took a dump

I feel for you! Back in '63 I had a Corvair Spyder, & the seals blew out about every 10,000 miles. The only guy that was trained to fix them was always out at school when that happened! :D

wow you guys a brutally honest

It's taken me a while to get them that way. As much as we like to hear, "Killer Kar shots!", it doesn't help anyone much?

...and the last one has a light pole growing from the car.

Was there something you liked about the poles in #2 & 3? ;)
Good point though. When you're planning a shot, you also need to plan the background. In these, you had "Target Fixation" & didn't think to look beyond the car.

The shadows are horrible. Try shooting at a different time of day.

They aren't being used that way here, but shadows can be a nice design element. As for the time of day, look at the nice light thats starting to come out on them. It's still earlier than when I'd want to start to shoot, but "late light" is what does it for me.

They're not in focus.

Now this is a BIG point. I love a nice blur more than the next guy, but these just don't qualify. Not always in every case, but something like a headlight should be in focus in these. For instance, here's one from a week ago:

You might find some help in the links in this:
Panning Question

All in all, you've made a good effort with these. They just need some technique tweaking, so don't give up. They don't like some things I do, either.

I like the car, but all the shots except No1 have something growing out the car, but nothing a bit cloning would sort out.

Thanks for the comments guys. I actually had the camera mounted to the back of my car and these are taken at around 80km/h. I was also using the EOS software to trigger the camera from inside the car.

I've done other shots before hanging out of a car which I find hard on my knees and ribs.

Second set is better from a focus standpoint but they're still soft. Also, I think you're possibly using a low f-stop, maybe, because you're not getting crisp edges all the way around the car in the second set.
