"144 million reasons a sec to buy a new camera"

I've always wanted to shoot 143 million pictures of pure crap in a single burst. I'm assuming the shutter just rebuilds itself every 500k too? *facepalm*.

And now back to my chomping at the bit for a 1D4 announcement.

Sounds like high speed video mode - which wouldn't have any effect on your shutter. Now we can all pretend to be the Mythbusters in our back yard. A pretty neat feature for sport/press shooters too (IMO).

The scary thing is, they all make sense. Canon might just suprise us all...

.5 crop factor? Heavy vignetting and crazy thing DOF?

I jsut don't think there is a hoard of "Pros" out there who feel the same way about FF, hence, not the demand that some feel exsists.

seems Nikon is happy with their FF DSLRs for "pros"....

how exactly?

Is it even possible to pre-order a camera that doesn't officially exist?

yeah, it is. You go down to your local shop and tell they you've heard canon has a 7D coming and you want to preorder it. They take $xxx from you and put your name on the list BEFORE it's announced. If it's clear what's announced is what you asked for you're on the top of the list. If canon launches say a 60D and 1Div when you thought the 7D would be launched, you're on that list if you want to, but behind anyone who put money down on either of those 2 specific bodies before they were announced.

My local shop is willing to take my money on a 7D today if I want. ;)

First he gave me a riddle: said "144 million reasons a sec to buy a new camera"

Then in conversation during the night I managed to get the following info, not confirmed.
Name is 7D
Its a new niche
14MP Cropped
10FPS
Video and Pics at same time
dual cards

Come on, peeps. Literally, do the math. Not 144 million pictures but 144 million pixels. 14MP x 10fps = 140MP per second. 14MP in this case is shorthand for 14.4MP --> 14.4MP x 10fps = 144MP per second.

No way would I buy a 1.6x crop prosumer (XD) body. 1.3x, yes. For 1.6x it'd have to be a XXD model.

As long as it has AF that can keep up and is priced around $1800 or so, I'm all for it. Might not be for me (although depending on other specs could be very attractive), but I'd be happy for Canon to have something in that product segment.

That's logical - thanks Mr. Spock. Although high speed video would be damn cool too.

If I had a nickel for every time someone made a direct print button.... we're nearing the point where it's getting almost as old as chuck norris jokes ;)
