Which has happened before with 52 inch proofers that couldn't print right to the edge of the roll. My collection of boxes with holes

Mike ugly when I'm sober ![]() More info | Aug 24, 2009 08:51 | #890 I finally switched on my 2209WA yesterday. Wow, it hurt my eyes it was so bright but awesome in terms of detail, especially going from an old 15" lappy monitor! So I dialed down the brightness to 0 and I'm sure I toned down the contrast a few notches. I don't have calibration hardware yet so what are your suggestions for getting it looking halfway correct? (I'm a total noob when it comes to screen calibrating!) www.mikegreenphotography.co.uk

Leave the Contrast at the default 75% setting, but lower the Brightness to between 0 and 20% depending on the brightness of your work area. This represents a luminance range of about 120-140cd/m2. You can also create a blank white image in Photoshop (or whichever color managed editing software you use) and compare the display image with a blank piece of photo paper. Adjust the brightness down as needed to match the paper. Some people have also suggested going into the RGB controls and lowering the Red slider to about 96. Nice one, thanks. I have done all you suggested! www.mikegreenphotography.co.uk

Aug 28, 2009 10:23 | #899 I've been going back and forth on this but I am seriously considering exchanging mine... I have one spot on the monitor that is red/pink, and one that is green. They are next to each other combined cover the middle of the screen almost. The color uniformity is horrible compared to my cheap TN panel monitors at work. How does it work? Will they ship a new one (or refurb?) and once I receive it I just ship my old one to them? Has anyone had good luck with exchanging them in terms of the new one being better? Thanks. flickr
