Just started a thread with about 10 shots from the event. Canon 40D | EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 | EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 | 70-200 f/2.8L IS | 580EX II | 430EX

With Formula D you have to shoot down around 1/60th. I'd imagine NASCAR is somewhere around 1/100th? Canon 40D | EF 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 | EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 | 70-200 f/2.8L IS | 580EX II | 430EX

The top image (Kasey Kahne's car) was shot at 1/200, Earnhardt's car was at 1/250. I had been playing with a range of speeds, from 1/60 to 1/400, and even at that higher speed, I was able to get decent blur on the wheels and background: The Moose is Loose!

It was my first event with a dslr and I was pretty ambitious with my shutter speeds. Kevin

It was my first drifting event and I got started at 1/50th. I ended up being able to handle a 50th by the end of the day but it took a little practice. Not bad at all for 1/20th!
