When I first read your post I thought "Screw it Im staying up to midnight". Then reality set in.

That's good to know... I thought I was the only one willing to do that :D

Actually, I was planning on waking up in the middle of the night because that'd be 4AM here :p

iam confused...

what time do i have to be awake in california to decide what my next camera will be(7d or d300)?

the 1.45 seems like a good idea, canon probably looked at the tolerances and figured that its the biggest they can go for use with ef-s lens's. do you guys think canon will really shove 18mpx in a 1.6 cropper? unless its that new and improved sensor tech.

I've come to the conclusion that no camera, no matter how neat, will be as interesting as those that have run through my head because of this thread.

I would say that you have to wait about 28 hrs. At the moment it is 2:10PM in Aus 31st August 2009. September 1st isn't until tomorrow... anywhere in the world ;-)a We (AU) are GMT +10 meaning we're 9hrs ahead of Swiss time.)

3rd party lenses are designed for other cam manufacturers as well, which use 1.5x crop. Canon is the odd one with a smaller sized 1.6x crop. So on a '1.45x' EF-S lenses will have more potential issues than 3rd party.
I'd rather a natural vignette than have to add it in post. heh.

That's what I love about FF. Can get natural vignette.

Yes. My Sigma 50 has light falloff in the corners. Not like a true corner only vignette, but does offer a tad. Well, actually it has a bit of light fall off on the sides. Aides in the dreamy look.

Why would Canon introduce a 4th crop factor? That seems completely lame. I would imagine you would need to zoom in to 500% mag to see the differences in noise levels between a 1.45 and a 1.6x crop sensor, even at 18MP. It just seems pretty pointless and confusing to the consumer.

18mp on 1.6x seems way too dense to still have usable high ISO. That's the reason we initially thought APS-H or FF. So a compromise between sensor size and hi ISO is this 1.45x
Canon is changing its mindset line with new AF, flash command, 100% VF, 15-85IS, 18-135IS. Not a revolution for cameras, but a revolution for Canon.
1.45x - Unlikely, but i want to believe.

I would love for the 7D to have an integrated grip ala the 1D series, OR if it HAS to have an attachable grip, then make it a lot "smoother" looking & fitting than the BG-E2N one.

Something along the lines of the old Power Booster PB-E2 type that was used on the EOS 1V (Came with the EOS 1VHS camera), or the EOS 3 film cameras. Those "grips/boosters" made the camera look as if it was one complete unit, unlike the BG-E2N grips that look like a clunky addition.

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

Same here. I don't like how the BG-2N looks on my 40D at all. A lot of people wish Canon would shape their battery grips to better fit the camera bodies in a more seamless, elegant fashion. Knowing Canon, though, it probably is not going to happen anytime soon. Well, as long as it does the job, I guess I shouldn't complain too much about the look.
