Anyone look at the samples on Rob Goliath's site?

http://www.robgalbraith.com …age.asp?cid=7-10042-10239 (external link)

The bridge sample doesn't look great to me, especially the detail in the leaves. Anyone else have an opinion?

Hopefully it's just a result of the Beta firmware.

Also, look at the comparison he does with the 5DII. I'm looking at the ISO12800 shots and wow, I don't see much difference in noise at all.

ISO3200 is a different story though. 5DII still looks great.

This is REALLY making me want to upgrade now. Something that entices me away from my 30D.

Lots of really neat features, this is what Canon has needed for awhile now. My poor budget :( :p

At first glance that battery grip looks a lot better than previous models. It seems to match the form of the camera body. I'm content! :)

Do Canon have a massive surplus of 28-135 lenses somewhere. How come the 7D kit is the 28-135 and not a lens people may actually want. What about the new EF-S ones they announced, why not mate it with one of them? 15-85 seems like a better paring.

GENIUS!!! They took what I loved about the S series, the quick movie mode button. Not that I'd ever use it, but still. Never the less, the price is??? If this replaces the xxD series, they're kinda out there in that it's WAY more expensive and aside from...well, what's the diff between the MkIIN and this?

The 18-135 is available as a kit, just like the 28-135, from Late September, the 15-85 only in October.

Kind regards, Wim

I still think I'll grab a IDMkII over this or 5D. While it's fun and new and great for many things...I'm not sure.

Love the specs and finishing touches though.

Simon,

$1899 with 28-135, $1800 body.

The rest I would have to guess :D.

Kind regards, Wim

Where did you find that, or are you just guessing? The Canon press release and the stores I checked only mention the 28-135 as a kit.

AGREED. An amazing camera, but this was the first thing I looked for, and was extremely disappointed to see missing. 400 5.6 + TC is the realm of the 1D series only, it seems.

I can live without that... just get a 400 2.8 Perry ;) I've already got mine ordered and am hoping it holds true for late September availability. I think this and a 1D2 will do me just fine for my sports stuff, makes me miss my 1D3 a little less now.

Here we go, first impressions of high ISO and low light and noise with the 7D.

I'm feeling really good about my pre-order now, whew! :D
