I sold my 40D a few months ago and bought a 5D. No regrets. The 50D did not interest me. The 7D does but not as a replacement for my 5D.

yeah thats right
5d still VERY capable camera

The 40D is my first and only DSLR. It's only six months old. Love it. I won't be upgrading for at least another couple of years. But I have my eyes squarely planted on the 7D Mark II... :)

Touting my 20D/40D combo, heh. 5DMKII would be awesome, but it's just a bit too much. And the new 7D is everything I'd want, sans being FF. Actually, I probably would be happy w/ a 40D with just the tech in the 7D for the sensor, heh.

Though, I've really enjoying using crop. I have a bigger investment in it, and ISO performance is really my only lacking issue. It fits my budget and works great. Going through a lot of the 7D threads, there seems to be so much hate for the crop sensors, heh. Oh, I guess a giant viewfinder is another downside, but not big enough for me.

I'm still plenty happy with mine. I'm up in the air about getting a 7D. I may at some point, but I'm really not in a big rush. The 40D meets my NEEDS right now as a photographer, but that doesn't mean I don't still want to get another 1Series body.

I'm not going to sell it, but I want the 7D. However, that probably won't be until next summer after I get the 7-2 2.8 IS, then maybe either the 17-55 or 30 1.4

I have a 5D Mark II and originally planned on selling my 40D but couldn't. I loved my 40D and still find myself using it occasionally. I figured it would be a great backup body and also my sports body.

Even having a 1Dmk3, it's taken quite some time to finally decide to sell the 40D because it's been such a great performer. I can't justify owning both, although many seem to like this combo.

I have 40D and I do not plan to upgrade. I just do not see any reason....I recently bought 70-200 L f/4 IS and this is super cool. 40D is much more than I need. I am 100% certain that one can do best shots on Earth with 40D....this camera will not be a bottleneck.
I am happy....
I will probably upgrade one day, but it has to be FF and 8 FPS.

Same here.
By the way...I think that you are Portuguese like me correct?

My 40D has been great. Even though I do want to upgrade to 5D II or now the 7D, the 40D will be my backup camera taking the place of my XTi.

I also will use it for outdoor sports if I go with the 5D II. The crop sensor will give more reach, and it has the FPS I like in action sports situations.

Which ever way I go, I expect the 40 to be around for a long time.

I bought a 40d last month, upgrading from a 400d. I'm sticking with the 40d for a couple of reasons:
1. pics in raw are 12 mb. 50d and 7d way bigger.
2. IQ is very good.
3. I am able to print good iso 1600 pics.
4. Good glass is more important. I'm saving for that.
5. Photographic skill is very important and the 40d is a good camera to develop that skill.
6. price of 7d / FF is way over my budget.
Last but not least: I do not like to join the npc!!! (nitpicking pixelpeeping club):D
