Wow, beautiful shot! The sharpness in the eyes and on the nose is spectacular.

Beautiful capture... one of the best shots of a deer in a natural setting I've seen. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the comments everyone, I'm glad you found it interesting. This is a whitetail deer fawn, it will loose it's spots by winter.

That is a sweet, sweet image, Michael!
And yes, I was expecting big antlers - you had me fooled!
Perhaps you'll get some images of Whitetails with big antlers soon - I'll keep an eye out for your upcoming posts.

Thanks again! Tom, how else was I going to get people to look at a fawn picture? There were a few cases this summer when groups of bucks (6-10 bucks including some pretty decent ones) in velvet were around and I didn't have the time to make a serious effort towards photographing them. Hopefully I can get to Yellowstone real soon, and plus catch some nice bucks around here. Hope you can get out and get some too.

Nice job. I really love the eyes...very clear.

Is this recent...the deer around here have been spot free for a while now.

I think I posted it the same evening I shot the photo, which would have been September 2 or so.

Michael, I hope you get to shoot those Whitetail bucks. Whitetails are just about my favorite big game to shoot. I look forward to photographing the Whitetail rut in Montana more than any other wildlife event all year.
