some cool shots on your website! While I don't really get how one can only shoot airplanes I do have respect for what you do. ;)

Trying to branch out, but aviation photography is what I am stuck doing for now.

Great Shots on your site.
I really like the font in your name.
What is it?

Stuck? Geez...

Wish I could get "Stuck" doing that.

Great work on your website. I was probably 20' either side of you from time to time at OSH.

My AirVenture gallery is at my Zenfolio if you'd care to have a look.

Again, excellent imagery.

Looks like its the 600MM, and by his holding technique I am willing to say he didnt do to well. His left hand should be out on the hood for much better stability, seeing how that lens(600) weighs in a 12.8 lbs,( at least thats what I do and get decent results with the 500MM which weighs 8.5 lbs) But hey to each his own.

A little L goes a long way.

Great comments. Gave me some good laughs.

About the hand-holding, aren't tripods usually forbidden at airshows?

I always see a guy or 3 with tripods at an airshow, you see them get all set up before the show and by halfway through more or less the tripod is put away and they are handholding, always good for a smile. So I would say no they are not forbidden at airshows, but all venues are different and different rules apply. :) What really is a good laugh is seeing a tripod with a point and shoot on it.

I may have been confused. I thought tripods were forbidden, but I didn't see them listed on the Miramar Air Show web site. However, large bags/backpacks are not allowed.

Why is he not using a tripod :|

That's my only question/comment.

With his muscles he is the tripod.

I doubt that's a 600mm. Remember the smooth white portion on the end of the lens is the lens hood, not part of the optics. I'd say no longer than 400mm.

I probably got better photos than he did since I was in VIP seating (front and center) with my 50-500 and 5D, also handheld ;)

LOL wow I would have never guessed that the white thing on the end of my 500 was the hood ...Thanks for that info. Check out this link:

Definitely not the 400,the black thing above the guys left hand is the focus ring.... part of the optics.... and its much thicker than the 400 and larger than the 500 but not tapered like the 800 so that narrows it down to the 600.:D:D
