This forums is very addictive, the more you read the more lens you want to buy or plan to buy. I have the canon 100mm 2.8 macro, loving it, I also have the canon 85mm 1.8 on it way, should be in this Friday, people in this forum love this lens so much with it's thread showing amazing photos, I can't ignored my feeling, I been thinking to get this lens since day one I start to read about this lens, ordered it last week from amazon.

Now the canon 50mm 1.4 back on stock at amazon, I have this lens ordered about a month ago, got a notice from amazon this morning that this lens will be shipping out on this Friday. Should I keeping the order, since canon 50mm 1.4 is not that good lens make by canon.

Does it make sense to have all 3 lens!!! since they very close to each others.

Depends what else you have and what you shoot. The 50 1.4 is a very useful tool. Personally I don't care much for the FL on a crop body that's why I have the Sigma 30.

Agreed though the 85 1.8 is awesome.

well too late to cancel the canon 50mm 1.4, amazon already shipped it this morning, I guess I will keep it, it will be arrives next Wednesday, 85mm 1.8 will be here this Friday. I just clean out my saving.

I bought 5 lens, 1 speedlite from amazon in less than 3 months, it is highly addictive in this hobby.

What is FL mean!!!! thanks.

The 50mm 1.4 is a superb lens and it's taken some amazingly sharp pics on my 40d. The only way you can decide if you should send it back or not is to have a think about when you would actually use it. It's all very well buying loads of different lens but you will no doubt find that some end up gathering dust in your bag.

+1
I didn't like the FOV with a 50mm on a crop, but on FF as a true 50mm normal, its great!

My 50MM f/1.4 is my least used prime...I would look at a 30MM or 35MM rather than the 50MM.

I find the 50mm to be a valuable tool, especially in low light. I have the el-cheapo 1.8 ('Thrifty Fifty'), and it's still great on a crop body. The 1.4 runs circles around the 1.8.

I think you'll enjoy the 50mm 1.4 .. there is no need to second guess your purchase.

Lenses tend to maintain value pretty well, so if you find you don't like a lens or rarely use a particular lens and want to unload it, selling it is always an option..

I think only you will know what makes sense and not. It's your money and your hobby. If you don't know now, then you will probably know as time goes and you see what focal lengths you favor and what style of photography you do. Personally, I don't see how a hobbyist would have serious use for more than four-five lenses in total. But someone else might.

I really loved the 50mm f/1.4 on my 40D (1.6 crop), as I mostly photographed people indoors. Occasionally for wider shots it was a bit tight. I found it a bit wide on my 5D Mark II for the same use, though it worked great for slightly wider shots I couldn't get with the 50 on a crop.

I sold the Canon 50mm f/1.4 intending to get the 50mm f/1.2L, but I also switched from a crop to a FF, and since the 50 worked so well on the crop, I'm getting an 85 f/1.8 to fill the same niche, and a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 as a general indoor workhorse. So for less than the price of the 50 f/1.2L (and WAY less than an 85 f/1.2L), I'm getting a 50 and a 85.

Gear: 5D Mark II; 24-105 f/4L IS, Sigma 50mm f/1.4, 70-200 f/4L IS, 85mm f/1.8, 100mm f/2.0, Sigma 15mm f/2.8 fisheye. Coming soon: 7D, 2nd Sigma 50mm f/1.4. Outgoing & for sale: 24-70 f/2.8L.
