i have a question....how do you differentiate between the different metering modes...on the screen even after selecting the different ones i still see the same thing. am i suppose to be in one particular mode? thanks

sweet I have the hack for my S3 IS - glad to see it is going for my XTi - this is a nice feature to gain also.

The metering modes, you'll see on the screen, of the mode you selected, such as spot metering.

As for the custom timer, no.

Press "metering mode" button, then press "print" button and voila!. The display will show a square icon with a tiny black dot in the middle, that´s the spot metering . All other metering modes can be selected as usual.

Anyone notice any problems with 8GB cards?

I did this "hack" and my 8GB card was showing only 100-something pictures remaining when I had only taken about 4.5GB worth of pictures. I switched cards on the shoot, just to be safe, so I didn't get a chance to see if it would actually let me keep shooting past "full".

On the computer is shows a full 7.6GB being usable. Once I get a chance to test it further I will update.

The only weird thing i noticed is the possible shots using raw images that the display shows:

Iso 800 = 190 raw
Iso 1600 = 182 raw
Iso 3200 = 202 raw

i'm using an 8 gb, but mines currently empty. it looks like only a couple of the 1/3 and extended stops show the correct # of remaining shots. the rest just default to iso100's value:

How did you get an 8gb card to work? I tried using an Sandisk 8gb extreme III and cardtricks wouldn't let me make it bootable. I had to use an extra 1 gb card I had hanging around.

Would this work with an XT?
