The first one reminds me of the b & w image of the Nautilus shell by Weston.

The second image is not nearly so captivating. The lighting on that one is also good, but the pattern does not seem to establish any harmony.

I have always felt if you going to shoot plants and flowers up close and personal they need to be perfect...no flaws, dead spots etc....you have captured perfect flowers with incredible colors. I really like your photos. They made me smile and that is what's most important to me...how a photo makes me feel, not if DOF is done correctly..which yours is, or if the balance ir harmony is correct and so on

Love the first one. Second one is a tad too sharp and not as catchy a color as well.
