last pic is awesome...are you using backdrops or was the background fixed in PP?

I love the lighting and the comp! The color is really good too. F'it, I like everything about it.

david, excuse the noob question, but how do you get your backgrounds perfect white and black? is it done in post processing or do you turn up the power of the background light? i keep seeing the wrinkles in my pics.

Biff: Hi, I use my living room's wall, not a cloth or paper, so wrinkles are non-existent.

But in order to get really dark background, you just have to make sure that the background is about 3 stops darker than your midtone (subject), conversely, you have to overexpose the background by 2 or 3 stops brighter than midtone.

Bought a new playrug from Ikea... This was shot in the bus on our way home, the light from a passing truck provided the nice short light.

hey great pics by the way. i have a question about your last post. I totally understand your explaination about the 3 stops under/over but after that part is figured out, now its the flash settings. lets assume its off camera. do you just try a setting, for ex. 1/8 then see if you need more or less and go from there? do you use anything on the flash? disfuser of some sort? zoom?
