5D Mark II and memory cards

Does it matter what size and speed card you use for shooting video with the Mark II? Thanks for your help!

Yes. The faster the better.

What's considered a "slow" card? I just bought a 5D mark II and it's on its way to me. I have a couple ultra II's and Extreme IIIs and IV's, but I have a feeling the Ultra II's won't be fast enough. I also ordered three 8GB Extreme IV cards.

The 5D's buffer is good for 5 RAW+Jpeg files in my experience, and I had an older Ultra II card lying around so I did a quick test. Once I'd blown through the buffer on burst, it took about 3 pictures every 2 seconds. Write speed on an ultra isn't too bad! It's only about 2/3 the speed of an extreme III.
I'm starting to think I might need an extreme IV to play with, but spending that much money on a memory card when I'll rarely use the write speed is a bit scary.

The high card speeds are needed to get good response when shooting sequences - especially for RAW.

But the requirements for shooting video are quite modest. Most cards should work for video.

i have an 8gb ultra II and at one point the video started to reach the buffer limit thing.

now i have a 16gb extreme... and its damn fast
