Few days old this news but couldn't find it anywhere on here:

Canon to return to sponsoring F1 just like in the early 90s with Williams:

It's only for the Singapore race though at this point, would be nice to see them become a permanent sponsor. I wouldn't mind getting a model of a Canon sponsored Brawn to add to my small collection (preferably Ruben's car, as WDC, after Jenson cracks under the pressure :p ).

I'm surprised Canon feel they have the spare cash to do something like that right now because it can never make sense commercially. But the Canon logo does look nice on the Williams blue.

I hear that Brawn will have no problems getting sponsors next season. I can well imagine Renault struggling though.

Sounds like it's a Canon Singapore deal, I'm guessing that they are expecting good airtime at home on the telly then. Dunno how big F1 is out there mind.

Likewise, I'd love to get my hands on a die-cast Brawn car with Canon logos on the sidepods!!

This explains the lens price increases over the last few months! :)

Who cracked? I have always though Rubens was slightly "mentally challenged", and yet again he failed to capitalise on Buttons mistakes.

Seeing the Canon logo on the Brawn, I think it looked better on the Williams.

HA! Photography and F1 - my two great loves:) I hadn't read beforehand that Canon was going to be onboard Ross's cars. But it was very cool to see, reminded me of the old Canon Williams days. I've read that they are talking about a continued deal. I think that the Canon logo would look great on Button's car with that number 1 on it next year.

I'm betting that it would be WAY less money to be on a Brawn as opposed to a Ferrari.

Depends on who you talk to. A little bird who used to be with Honda until made redundant told me that Richard Branson will be a sponsor next year, but not Brawn as they wanted too much cash. Instead Virgin will be with one of the new teams. I am also told that Brawn are not short of prospective sponsors for next year.

Williamsf1,

I was asked not to mention Manor Motorsport (my little birds latest employers), so I could not possibly confirm your "speculation".
