My lens suddenly has aperture sticking. It's stuck at f/5 and won't open up or go smaller aperture.
Took it to the THK at Huntington Beach, CA two weeks ago to get it fixed. Cost about $75 total.

What you don't see is the BMW SUV & Jaguar convertable in the garage that accompany the Mercedes and Porsche in the pictures above. Must be nice to be loaded!!!

Speaking as an Englishman I find such ostentation rather gross. Good pictures though.

i own the 2nd version and from the looks of my first few pictures, i like it a lot more than my brother's 17-40L. obviously it fits my aps-c sensor better as an ultra wide angle, but the color, contrast, sharpness are as good as the 17-40 except maybe in the extreme corners. really happy with this lens!

A couple of photos taken at my recent visit to Portland's Classical Chinese Garden. Both taken with 10D, and post processed via Aperture + Nik Software.

Hello

Wondering if this lens AF is fast enough to take motorcross pics & should I go for the 11-16 2,8?

AF on this lens is not the fastest. I use a Sigma 105 Macro lens for MX, which is not Canon fast either but might be a bit faster than the Tokina. I was just at a MX race last weekend and used it all day. It takes great shots and is fast enough to catch them in the air as seen here. These were shot from about 15-20 feet away, too far for the Tokina.

I,am thinking of

Sigma 10-20
Canon 10-20
Tokina 11-16
Tokina 12-24
Tamron?

I have only tested the Canon 10-20 for a few minutes, a couple years ago and on an older 30D. It was not as fast as a prime lens, but faster than the Tokina. However, let me explain about the tokina 12-24. When I said it's not the fastest I meant it will take a second or so to focus from minimum to maximum focus. If your shooting at the races and you pre focus to the distance your going to shoot at, the small change you will need to focus on a bike going by will be quite fast enough. I did use my Tokina at the races, but the wide angle made the bikes look too far away, which is why I used the 105.

Ok thanks, I got a racetrack were one of the curves I can get very close about 1meter. I tested my Sigma 18-50 2,8 but with fast shutter. but I want more wide-angle not fisheye.

Well, my Tokina was definately fast enough to catch a passing bike, as long as the lens was already focussed at the point on the track the bike would pass. :)

Craving something wider than my 18-55 IS kit lens, I bought a used Tokina 12-24 f4 for my Rebel XS last week. Have to say, its pretty awesome!

Here are some early shots. One thing I really like about the UWA is that you can handhold at relatively low shutter speeds and get good results.

Very nice shots. I especially love the color saturation I get from mine, with no filters or saturation added in PP.
