here's a couple quick shots with one of my Mark II's I took earlier while breaking in the new 400 2.8 (i also posted these ones in the 400 thread)

I traded out the 300 2.8 for a 400 :)

^ That's probably the cleanest ISO 3200 I've seen from this body... Care to share your pp'ing technique?

Shot it at +1EV, brought it back down in lightroom which helps kill some of the noise, then adjusted curves and other small adjustments and finally ran it through noise ninja.

Why not just shoot at ISO 1600 at +0 if you're doing ISO 3200 at +1?

I find 3200 +1ev brought back down is cleaner then 1600 on its own from my testing, plus with batch processing it doesn't take any longer to process.

As was said above, depends on how much it's going to cost you.

That's kind of strange... Too bad I can't test it anymore. 3200 on the 1D mark II/n is just a linear multiply of all readouts by 2. It's exactly the same data as 1600, just multiplied by 2 in post vs amplified at the readout stage. In theory 3200 +1ev and pulled back in post should be identical to 1600, but then again with some of the stuff I did with noise reduction I can honestly say I wouldn't be surprised if 3200 +1ev pulled back in post actually is cleaner. I wasn't able to get workable 12800 out of the 1D2 based off of 1600; I had to do it based off of 3200 to get anywhere. It's an interesting camera. ;)
