Went out to local nature preserve recently to try out my new lens. While I was taking pictures of this pair of Egrets (a pic which I didn't think would be nice, but it has grown on me),

I noticed something kind of shiny & dark flitting in & out of the bushes. It kept going into the bushes where I could not see what it was. It was fast. Seemed to be chasing crabs.
FInally got a bit of a shot at it, but plenty of bushes preventing a decent shot. And the light was tough, being filtered through the vegetation.

After waiting what seemed to be an eternity, the guy popped out almost into the open. It seems to be a White-faced Ibis. (Or is it a GLossy Ibis? Most of the White-faced I've seen online appear to have much more red in them that this critter has).

After spending lots of time mainly looking, not taking too many photos, I came upon this guy fighting for his supper. Down The Hatch:

Thanks.
It was fun watching that cormorant fighting to get that fish. When he first came up from out of the water the fish was entangled with seaweed, string, something The COrmorant kept diving in & out of the water trying to shake off all the extraneous matter before he swallowed the fish.

Nice shots. Looks like the eyes of that ibis are brown, so it's a glossy.

there are no glossy ibis in nevada . its a whiteface. ;)

they have lots of different colors and the lighting can add even more.

nice shot regardless!

And just so you know in the first pic you have a Great White Egret and a Snowy Egret (I think it's a snowy with the yellow legs). I also agree on the Glossy Ibis ID.
